About the author

Tom Basso bought his first mutual fund unit at the age of 12. In 1974, after graduating from the Clarkson College of Technology with a chemical engineering degree, he became interested in the stock market. In the early 80s, he received an MBA from Southern Illinois University. In 1980, he was one of the three founders of Kennedy Capital Management, and a few years later - after the sale of shares - he became the president and owner of Trendstat Capital Management, where shares, mutual fund units and futures were traded. Along with the development of the company, at some point it also started trading on the currency market, which was to increase the wealth of the funds managed. At its peak, it traded roughly $ 600 million from customers all over the world. His approach could be summed up in the words: "If something can be computerized, let's do it". This resulted in the creation of an invaluable market research and trading platform that supported seven different trading strategies, 30 FOREX currency pairs, 80 commodity and commodity futures, over 20 mutual funds and accounts of hundreds of clients. Tom Basso became one of the heroes of the book The Masters of Financial Markets by Jack D. Schwager and gained the nickname "Mr. Peaceful". He was elected to the board of directors of the National Futures Association as one of the three representatives of the CTA (Commodity Trading Advisor) industry.
