Number of MetaTrader 5 users greater than MetaTrader 4
MetaQuotes announced that in June 2021 the number of people using the platform for the first time MetaTrader 5 surpassed the number of people using the iconic MetaTrader 4. It happened 11 years after the premiere of MT5 (June 2010). Will this trend continue?

MetaTrader 5 the most popular platform
So far, the undisputed leader among trading platforms for over a decade has been MetaTrader 4. This month MT4 handed over the place of the leader to its younger brother - MetaTrader 5. The upward trend has been visible for years, an increasing number of brokers began to expand their offer with MT5, and in some cases at the same time give up with MT4 (e.g. TMS Brokers).
Growing popularity include the effect of constant development "New" product MetaQuotes. For example, the amount of MetaTrader 5 code has already reached 7 million lines, while the previous version had them "just" 2 million. However, the author of the software does not provide exact statistics on the number of users themselves.
The company's announcement reads:
