Features of an effective trader

created Paweł MosionekSEPTEMBER 10, 2013

A few years ago, browsing the websites of various financial institutions professionally involved in fund management and trading on currency market and derivatives, I came across a very interesting list - a list with the features that an effective trader should have.

Do you have them too?

Self-ciritical - self-critical. Can you admit it? error and say you did the wrong thing and where? Don't you consider yourself knowing everything and see your imperfections?

Disciplined - disciplined. You comply with the rules of the market and are able to regularly follow and investigate its behavior, while knowing your place?

Patient - patient. Are you able to wait for days or even weeks for a transaction signal without combining something else on your account? You can wait until your transaction reaches take Profit or until the formation is confirmed?

hard worker - ready to work hard. Can you read educational materials for hours, refine your strategy and analyze the market from any angle until you reach your goal? Are you ready for many sacrifices to get yours?

Flexible - flexible. Are you able to quickly find yourself in a new situation? You react efficiently to changing conditions and you can change your mind, even though until recently you thought it was the only right solution?

Surprised? What else is important?

Mentally strong - mentally strong. Is not you a terrible risk and stress? Can you make good decisions in difficult conditions, where the situation changes quickly, and you do not have too much time to think about it? Do not break down after a series of failures and treat them as a valuable science?

Passionate about the markets - fascinated by financial markets. Sure, a known saying says "Do what you like and you will never have to work again" - Are you a fan of the financial markets and are you really interested in them, rather than in the category of money machines? Do you like to analyze changing situations on the chart and follow economic events more than automotive ones?

Bright - smart. You catch quickly what's going on? Is it enough to present one example when translating a complicated issue, while the rest needs two or three?

Focuesd - focused. You have no problem with organizing and focusing your thoughts on the set task? It's hard to dissociate you or make you under the influence of various factors, you will have a problem with the analysis of many factors in parallel?

Confident - confident (of their decisions). Is it difficult to convince you of a different opinion without specific arguments? Are you sure about the decisions you make? Do you think that they are appropriate and it is always the best way out in a given situation?

If at least you answered yes or most of the questions to most features, you have the chance to become a really successful trader
