Forex Brokers - Types of Executions

They give access to the largest capital market in the world - the currency exchange Forex . Through them, both individual and institutional investors receive the possibility of international trading using leverage. A Forex broker can offer its services in one of several models of concluding transactions - in the model:

ECN and STP brokers

Forex brokers in the ECN / STP model ensure the execution of transactions on the market where the other party is another broker, investor or financial institution. Thanks to this, the broker's task is only to forward the transaction and associate it with its "other party", so there is no conflict of interest on the broker <-> trader line. Another important factor is the existence of purely volatile, market spreads which only depend on actual market liquidity.

Marker Maker

It is a kind of broker who only animates the market and is always the other side of the transactions of its clients. It is in his interest to secure these transactions independently on the market, so as to avoid any conflict of interest with the investor. Thanks to the fact that the market to which the MM broker gives access is simulated, we have the opportunity to obtain greater leverage (leverage) and permanent spreads.

Status: Professional Client

On 1 August 2018 came into force ESMA guidelines, which included brokers from the territory of the European Union. The new regulations introduced many changes in relation to offers addressed to retail customers. The most important are:

• limitation of financial leverage,
• introduction of mandatory protection against negative balances,
• setting the Stop-Out level at 50%.

For most brokers, however, you can change the client's classification from retail to professional. This opens the way to leaving leverage at the current or even higher level. We describe the entire procedure and the list of requirements in detail in a separate article.

Status: Experienced Customer

On August 2, 2019, the provisions of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority entered into force, which duplicated the provisions of ESMA, while expanding them with a new category - experienced clients.
